MAKEUP/BEAUTY

LET'S TALK ABOUT LIPS.

I get asked about my lips a lot, mainly if they're real. I can safely say they are all naturaaal (unless I was unknowingly injected with filler, in which case I would probably be a bit concerned). So I thought it was about time that I shared some helpful tips and tricks I've learnt to achieving a fuller pout. (I already have fairly big lips but who doesn't want an EVEN more pouty pout?)

ROUTINE:

Whenever I put my makeup on I have the same lip prep routine every time.

1. Apply a generous amount of Vaseline to your lips

2. Apply some lip scrub ontop of the Vaseline to create a pretty gooey scrub. (My go-to scrub is the LUSH lip scrub in bubblegum, you can even eat it, which believe me is always tempting)

3. Use a dry toothbrush (yes toothbrush) to brush the gooey scrub into your lips. Brush vigorously until they sting a little.

4. Once you're stinging a little bit, use a tissue to wipe off the scrub, and voila!

The Vaseline moisturises and softens, lip scrub gets rid of dead skin, and the resulted stinging from brushing naturally plumps them up, all ready for some lippy. (Thank me later)

OK, now they're prepped, its time for the lipstick.

1. Use lip liner to LINE your lips, not overline. Believe me as tempting as it is, it never looks very realistic, I think we all know that. Instead of overlining your lips, use the liner to shape your lips. Define your cupids bow and blend it out towards the sides. This will create a softer more natural look.

2. Also use your lip liner to completely colour your lips, this creates a solid base and makes the colour stay if lipstick comes off (from eating, drinking, kissing a fuckboy etc)

3. Now, there's two options for the next step. My go-to is using a liquid lipstick ontop of the liner. (My favourites are ALWAYS Kat Von D's. They're not drying, heavy and stay put) if you opt for this apply a thin layer.

Alternatively if you don't have a good liquid lipstick, simply go straight to the lipstick. However if you do this make sure to blot, then reapply a second coat.

4 .Pretty self explanatory, apply the lippy. Avoid creating harsh edges and always lightly blot, this removes excess lipstick and creates some staying power.

All 3 products don't have to match exactly, as long as they're very similar. My go-to combo on a daily basis is:

LIP LINER: MAC - shade Absolutely It (alternatively Primark (surprisingly) have a good dupe, the shade has wiped off so I cant give you the name, but is a taupe/brown)

LIQUID LIPSTICK - Kat Von D - shade Double Dare

LIPSTICK: MAC - Persistence

REDS:

Now, I LOVE a red lip (I have about 20 red lipsticks, they're all different I swear) so if you want to rock a bold red, follow the above steps with my go-to red products:

LIP LINER: MAC - shade High Energy (cheaper alternative is Barry M, again it doesn't seem to have a colour, but any red would do)

LIQUID LIPSTICK: Kat Von D - shade Outlaw

LIPSTICK: MAC - Russian Red

YAS' NON PROFESSIONAL TOP TIPS:

Now that you know a (fairly decent) routine, here are some extra little tips that I've discovered over my many years of lipstick obsessing;

1. Keep it matte! I know everyone says gloss is the way to a fuller looking lip, but for me an all over gloss just looks very slippery (ew) and swollen. If you want a glossy effect use Vaseline (honestly) in the middle of your lips and blend out, this REALLY works for a glossy plump effect.

2. Don't use dark lip liner, we're not in the early 2000's.

3. For a soft look, just pat lipstick on instead of smearing it. The softer the edges of your lips look, the more natural it will look.

4. Look after them! My lips are like my child (in a very weird way) so I make sure I keep them in tip top condition (which means constant moisturising and removing all products before bed)

5. If your getting a bit friskaaay, use Rimmels kiss proof double ended lipstick. Believe me girls, it is a life saver (moon emoji)

AND my last bit if you haven't lost the will to live yet.
My favourite shades that i'm most likely wearing in my IG pictures and in general life (Please note: they're all MAC, obviously):

 LEFT TO RIGHT:

MEHR
PERSISTENCE
MOCHA
WHIRL
TAUPE
TOP TO BOTTOM:

D FOR DANGER
RUSSIAN RED
M.A.C RED
CHILLI

I hope this pretty indepth guide can answer some of your questions, and not just what my favourite makeup brand is (if you haven't already guessed from the excessive amount of Mac products in this post, its Mac, obviously). Let me know what you guys think and thank you for reading!
